WELCOME TO MONAGHAN CRICKET CLUB

Monaghan Cricket Club (MCC) is a newly introduced club which is situated in County Monaghan in Ireland. The club was first formed during 1800s. Back then the game of cricket was one of the most competitive sports ever played in county Monaghan. As a school-based it was one of the first recognized sport in 1840s played in St. Macartans College. Monaghan Cricket Club has been active for the last number of years and playing friendly matches against adjoining clubs. MCC was reformed in 2001 by some of immigrants from India, who came to Monaghan for work. They were playing cricket only among themselves and they also participated in some tournaments and charity matches organized in Dublin.

Sunday, July 14th 2013 was a historical day for MCC as the first competitive cricket ball was bowled after 149 years in Monaghan Town (Saint Macartans College). After 149 years the cricket has returned to Co. Monaghan. In 2013 MCC participated in Connaught Cricket League and it was first time MCC played in any league. After having a decent season MCC moved to Northern Cricket Union (League Section 3) in 2014 where they came 3rd on the table at end of the season. In 2017 MCC won the title of NCU League 3 and moved to section 2. Our target is to bring back the old Cricket that existed in the 19th century and convert into a competitive sport in Co. Monaghan.
